“BRINGING TOGETHER HGI AND THE HOME NETWORK INDUSTRY in FRANCE”

HGI (www.homegateway.org) is a Forum for leading worldwide Broadband operators to develop requirements specifications for next generation broadband and home service platforms.

Our work covers home gateways, home networks, software architecture, middleware, and energy efficiency. HGI is defining the infrastructure for the next generation of smart home services, including home energy management.

HGI is taking the opportunity of being in Paris for its next quarterly meeting to engage with the French home networking industry forum called “Agora du Reseaux Domiciliaires” in a workshop on future directions in home networking.

HGI is pleased to invite the French industry and HGI members to this unique “ HGI Paris Forum” on Smart Home services, which will take place on June 12 from 10:30 to 18:00.

The event will include:

- keynotes and views from leading service providers and smart home leaders, including utilities and infrastructure vendors from HGI and French industry

- demonstrations

o a French home networking demonstrator done by “Agora du Reseaux Domiciliaires” showing the interaction between service providers and home automation systems

o Demonstrations by HGI members illustrating some current HGI work items (Smart Home, media gateway…)

- a perspective on smart home architecture

The Paris Forum will be followed by a cocktail reception from 18:00 to 19:00

The remainder of the HGI (members only) meeting (June 12-15, 2012) will progress our work on smart home architecture and services, along with other projects on home networks, diagnostics, energy efficiency, and test requirements for Home Gateways.

About Agora :

The 'Agora du Réseau Domiciliaire', or 'Smart Home Agora' is an association bringing together a number of key players around the yet-to-be-opened smart home market to help opening up this market. Agora has published a "rainbow book", which states a first list of principles, and plans its future activity.

In a practical way, the Agora proposes three steps to build up on this. Present a first shared solution based upon 2012 existing technology, products and services "the demonstrator", having a better solution breaking some of the barriers between the 'silos' by 2015 with "domocompatible" concept and a fully open solution by 2020.
