• HGI’s Release 3 brings a major extension of capabilities of the Home Gateway and the home network. The Home Gateway will be more configurable, allowing Service Providers to provide applications and diagnostics in response to their customers’ specific needs, while the Home Gateway and home network will become more environmentally friendly. The HGI identified these major themes for Release 3:
• Reduction of energy consumption in the home network;
• Diagnostics capabilities that help Service Providers to support their customers in case of network problems;
• Understanding the impact of unmanaged services upon services and end-end network requirements;
• Incorporation of Next Generation Access technologies into the HGI home network requirements.
